The third and final event of the Deutschland Ambassadors Initiative will be held in Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday, September 26 from 6:30-9:00pm. It will include a panel discussion about research in Germany, and  a networking reception at the Hofbräuhaus, where you can meet other Freiburg alumni. You can RSVP here before September 19!

The panel discussion “Science Meets Oktoberfest” features alumni of German universities and universities of applied sciences. Ralf Bundschuh, PhD, Professor of Physics, Chemistry & Biochemistry, and Hematology at the Ohio State University, Heike Haddenbrock, Dipl, Principal at German Language School Cleveland and Board Member of the German Language School Conference, Safiya Khurshid, PhD, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital,Columbus, OH, Jacob Naduparambil, PhD, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Research Ambassador and Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology, along with Nathanial Long, Graduate Student, Master of Public Administration at John Glenn College of Public Affairs, Ohio State University, and others will present their various career paths, highlighting the relevance of their studies and research in Germany, and discussing the role Germany plays for them today. Welcoming remarks by the German Consul General (tbc) will precede the panel and a networking reception with beer and bratwurst will follow.

The Deutschland Ambassadors Initiative brings together alumni of German universities for a series of science talks and networking events in the U.S. Part of the Year of German-American Friendship and organized by German liaison offices based in the U.S., this initiative invites alumni to join a growing network of thousands of members from diverse backgrounds, ages and professions who share a passion for Germany.

In 2019, Germany is celebrating the Year of German-American Friendship (Deutschlandjahr), knowing that the United States and Germany are Wunderbar Together― stronger as friends and partners. Deutschland Ambassadors Initiative is funded by Germany’s Federal Foreign Office.
