Sarah Stephens’ opera introductions go virtual!
Friends of Freiburg has been successfully going virtual to engage many more alumni outside of the NYC area. We are pleased to be connecting with more of our members! It was suggested that Sarah pair an opera introduction with Alumni Freiburg North America in a Zoom session before one or more of Metropolitan Opera Nightly Stream performances. We are delighted she has agreed.

Gounod’s Faust (in French)
HD performance from December 10, 2011 based on Johann von Goethe’s tragic 1808 play.
Starring Marina Poplavskaya (Marguerite/Gretchen), Jonas Kaufmann (Faust), and René Pape (Mephistopheles), conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

6.15 – 7.15pm – Sarah’s opera introduction
7.30pm – Metropolitan Opera Nightly Stream: Gounod’s Faust
Please join us with a bowl of popcorn or a glass of wine for Sarah’s opera introduction with our Friends of Freiburg that will enhance your understanding and enjoyment of the opera and conclude with the nightly streamed HD performance from the Metropolitan Opera.

For those who want to take it to another level, Sarah is also offering another introduction to Wagner’s legendary Lohengrin on Tuesday, May 19. This will be Wagner 101 so no reason to be intimidated!

Sarah Stephens is the Co-founder & President of Stephens Nicolson Artists Management, an international agency for opera based in New York and Berlin. She studied German Literature at the University of Freiburg, the University of Vermont and received her BA and MA from the University of Minnesota. Sarah began her first opera management agency in 1994 in Bremen, Germany. In 2008, she moved to NYC to expand her work and founded the current agency. Her management agency represents opera singers, conductors, stage directors worldwide. Sarah is a member of the Friends of Freiburg Board of Directors. She has been giving Freiburg Alumni opera introductions over the last two years as a part of the programming.
